Brytyjski reżyser o niezwykłej energii wizualnej, zdobywca Oscara za Slumdog. Milioner z ulicy. Twórca kultowego Trainspotting, który zdefiniował brytyjskie kino lat 90. Wyreżyserował horror 28 dni później, reaktywując modę na zombie, oraz biograficznego Steve'a Jobsa. Był dyrektorem artystycznym ceremonii otwarcia Igrzysk Olimpijskich w Londynie w 2012 roku.
